FRUGAL MEAL IDEAS

  1. Grilled Cheese– It’s super simple and yummy if you like cheese! It involves some bread, maybe a little butter and some cheese. There are so many ways that you can spice this up and make it a little bit more interesting. Head over to Pinterest or YouTube and find many variations of this that might spark your interest, but a simple classic grilled cheese can do the trick!
  2. Peanut Butter and Jelly-Again you can experiment with different kinds of bread, different flavored jelly and different kinds of peanut butter. I prefer Skippy Creamy peanut butter. Yes I’m in my forties, but honestly I still enjoy a peanut butter and jelly and so does my seven-year-old son.
  3. Tuna Fish Sandwich-Tuna, bread, mayo, pepper… This is one I choose not to bring to work because a lot of people at work do not love that tuna smell but in the privacy of my own home. I’m into it! Also my cats like it if I pour a little bit of the water from the can into their cat bowl. They are just thrilled to get in on that tuna. Makes them happy and makes my belly happy.
  4. Avocado Toast– I will leave a link below to watch my favorite simple avocado toast! YUM! https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=kate+kaden+avocado+toast
  5. Eggs and Toast– I keep saying “the classic”, but the classic eggs and toast! This never gets old to me. If you want to add some bacon too (got for it!) but like a classic egg and toast meal is so delicious, so easy and gets the job done.
  6. Beans and Toast-Growing up, beans was not my favorite. I remember my parents once in a while making franks and beans and I didn’t like the bean part. In my adult life I have become accustomed to liking beans and my son loves them! Now beans are a win-win.
  7. Tacos-It doesn’t have to be Tuesday to have tacos! They could be any day of the week. I love tacos. You can put whatever you want in it. If you want to get some meat or f you want to do veggies only, you can make that taco whatever you want it to be. They are delicious and affordable.
  8. Fajitas-I love chicken fajitas. My favorite contains chicken, onions and peppers, a little lettuce… so good!
  9. Quesadillas-Kaden prefers cheese quesadillas. I also like some chicken in mine sometimes. You can put veggies in there only if you choose. The sky’s the limit with quesadillas!
  10. Pasta-Pasta is so affordable and can be prepared so many different ways. One of my favorites is bowtie pasta and Alfredo sauce! I love Alfredo but I also like the red tomato sauce. You can do spaghetti, linguine, the bowtie, rotini…sprinkle a little parmesan cheese on top! BAM! It’s so affordable, quick to make and usually a crowd pleaser.
  11. Meatballs-My three ingredient meatball recipe is my GO-TO for parties. All the ingredients for under $10. Go-to Dish for Potlucks (Under $10!)/Easy Meatballs (and delicious!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sLYsQ6fUVm4&t=26s
  12. Homemade Pizza-Way more affordable than buying pizza at a pizza place or getting delivery. You can use english muffins, or divide a sub roll in half, spread some sauce, sprinkle cheese, add toppings and pop in the oven! Kids often love helping out on this one.
  13. Pancakes-Pancakes are amazing! You can put whatever you want for a topping. You could do bananas or strawberries, you could do a little Nutella, butter, syrup…whatever your desire! Pancakes are big hit in our house. I get it right out of the box. A box is super inexpensive lasts many, many meals.
  14. French Toast– love French toast. I don’t make it as much as I’d like. My Dad is a french toast master! He makes up a delicious batch for all of us. It’s a such a treat, yet so affordable.
  15. Cereal– I’m like Jerry Seinfeld… I love cereal! I know it doesn’t have a ton of nutritional value, but again we are talking about the things that we’re going to eat when we’re trying to get out of debt. Sometimes a cold bowl of cereal especially in the summer, is just what I need. What I am talking about? I love cereal year round! It’s not a summer thing for me. It’s an every day, any day kind of thing. Cereal is a childhood pastime of mine that I never grew out of… and I’m not apologetic about it. I love cereal!
